Volunteer! Get Involved With

OUT IN THE PARK

What can you do to get involved?
There are many things you can do to get involved with Out In The Park!

Out In The Park is a program of Project 100, Inc. /
Hartford Community Center
a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Since 1997, we have continued to plan and organize not only a Gay Day at Six Flags New England known as "Out In The Park At Six Flags New England", but based on attendees' requests, we have added other "Gay Days" at a variety of locations at amusement parks, renaissance faires and a country fair, throughout the New England and upstate New York areas. All of these events are held in public venues and are open to the public. The emphasis is always on fun, all-ages, social events.

Here are just a few ways you can help. Try doing just one and you will be amazed at what an impact it will have!
  • Attend Monthly Meetings
Beginning in March 2004, we will be meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of each month until September to specifically plan and organize Out In The Park At Six Flags New England. All are welcome! These meetings will be held at the Project 100 / Hartford Community Center, 1841 Broad Street, Hartford, CT from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Directions to the center are available on their web site (www.project100htfd.com), or call the main number at 860-724-5542

  • Volunteer
Join one of our online focus groups on Yahoo:

  • Email
Consider sending email invitations to ALL of your Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender/Questioning/Intersexed friends and family. This act alone could inform hundreds of people! Just think about it. If you send an invitation (please include the web address www.OutInThePark.com) to just 10 of your friends and they in turn forwarded the message to 10 of each of thier friends, the ripple effect alone will invite thousands!

  • Help Spread The Word
Contact your local newspapers, magazines and radio programs that cater to the G/L/B/T community. Ask them to list "Out In The Park" in thier Calendar Section. Please ask them to include the web address: www.OutInThePark.com.

  • Invite
    - ALL of the G/L/B/T/Q/I (and friendly) organizations (PFLAG, MCC, UUC, UCC, Men's clubs, Women's clubs, etc.) in your area to attend "Out In The Park" or one of the other Gay Days In New England. They can contact thier members - just think, they could be inviting hundreds of people! Make sure you let them know that in 2004, Six Flags New England is offering Tickets with a Meal Options (in the 10 acre River's Edge Picnic Grove). Space is limited, so book your reservation EARLY!.

  • Print
Print this Out In The Park Poster (PDF format) and post it at gay and lesbian bars, clubs and restaurants in your area. Don't forget to also post it at book stores, gift shops, etc.. Hey, even try the supermarket!

  • Organize
A bus trip from your area! Contact local clubs and organizations and see if they want to invite thier members. You could fill the bus in no time!

  • There are so many more things you can do to get involved and help make this an incredibly successful event. We know you will think of a few of your own. If you do, please contact us at BeProud@OutInThePark.com and let us know what you come up with. We might even add your idea to this list.

    Thanks for getting involved!
